Media Arts Syllabus Course Description: Learn to produce a yearbook using the computer and digital cameras. Course Outline: Learn the basics of a yearbook. (1 week) Learn to use a digital camera. Practice taking pictures.(2 weeks) Learn to use InDesign to make pages in the yearbook. (5 weeks) Design yearbook. (2 weeks) Create a yearbook. (17 weeks) Choice of what to do for 4th quarter. Grading Scale: 90-100 A 80-90 B 70-80 C 60-70 D 59-0 F Grade Weighting: Notebooks 25% Pages 50% Meeting Deadlines 25% (On Time A, One Day late B, Two Days late C, Three Days late C, Four Days late F) Student Expectations: RESPECT Teacher—Listen and follow directions Students—Treat others how you would like to be treated. Do not get into other’s belongings. Equipment—Take care of equipment like you would your personal belongings. Classroom Interruptions—be sure to be courteous and respectful when visiting other classrooms and interviewing students.
Come to learn. Be respectful and courteous to others. No one has the right to interfere with another student’s education.
Three refocuses—lunch detention Three tardies—lunch detention No food or drink allowed in class. May bring water bottle. Gum is OK. Bring reading book at all times. Hallway Expectations: Must have pass when in the halls or other classrooms. Must sign-out with name, time, and location. Must notify teacher whose classroom you will be visiting. Limit your interview and picture groups to two or three. Hallway privileges may be suspended by Mrs. Price if misused. After school and weekends may be required to take pictures or meet deadlines.
