Solving A Wildlife Crime: Investigation

You are Wildlife Investigators of a crime committed in the forested mountains of Ward, Colorado. 

1.  I have assigned you a partner.  Each partnership or "team" has an envelope with evidence and information inside.

2.  Read "Initial Crime Reports". Make any notes about who you think you need to interview and what was found at the crime scene in your Investigator's Notebook. 

3.  Fill in your timeline (Handout J) by writing key words for what happened each day.

4.  Look at "Big Game Hunting Season for Colorado:  Rifle Seasons."  On your timeline, write in the hunting seasons that were in effect near the time of the crime.

5.  Show Mrs. Morgan what you have on your timeline so far for points.

6.  Read through "Hunting Laws & Regulations for Colorado".  Underline the key words that define poaching.  Underline the key words in each description of an offense against wildlife.

7.  Look over the Mail Express receipt & record any useful information in you Investigator's Notebook.

8.  Review your list of people to interview...add or remove people from your list as you see fit.

9.  Show Mrs. Morgan your list of people you wish to interview.
