 Dear Parents or Guardians:

Greetings!  Sandpoint High School staff and students will be kicking off the 2005/2006 school year with a new block schedule.  This 8-credit schedule will "open up" student schedules, allowing them to take more elective and core classes.  Along with this transition comes the maintenance of a more complex master schedule. As a result, class changes will be difficult to accommodate because class sizes are at full capacity. The administrators of Sandpoint High School regret to inform you that we are no longer able to honor special requests for teacher preferences and class changes.

Teacher and individual student schedules have been randomly selected by a student management computer application called SchoolMaster. The scheduling function of this application is programmed to recommend placement of course sections and to balance class size – an enormous feat if done by hand. Although this process may seem impersonal to some, it is without doubt the most effective, the most efficient, and the most equitable way to accomplish this task.  Schedules will be available for Seniors and Juniors to pick up on Monday, August 22nd during regular office hours.  Sophomores and Freshmen may pick up their schedules on Tuesday, August 23rd during regular office hours.  If you are in need of additional copies of your schedule, we will be happy to print them for you at a cost of $1.00 each.

We mailed to your home a Parent Acknowledgement/ Permission Form, Medical Release Form, Student Information Form, and Daily Bell Schedule. Please take a few moments to fill out these important forms. It is critical that we have your most current phone numbers and address along with a signed medical release so that we are able to contact you quickly in order to assist your child in case of an emergency. Please make yourself a reminder to bring your completed forms to the high school when you pick up your child’s schedule.  It is important we have these forms on file before September 6, 2005.

Sports Information:  Sports physicals are required for all 9th and 11th grade athletes (physical must be taken after May 1, 2005.)  Sophomores and seniors who did not have a physical in their 9th and 11th grade year must also have a sports physical.  All athletes must purchase an ASB card for $40.00 and provide proof of medical insurance.  School Accident Insurance may be purchased through The MEGA Life and Health Insurance Company.  Enrollment will be accepted by the insurance company beginning July 1, 2005 for the 2005/2006 school year.  You may purchase this insurance on line at or you can obtain an application form from the school or district office.  Please be aware that the insurance must be purchased and confirmation received from the insurance company before the student is covered and eligible to participate in practice and/or competition.  Please note:  If the student participates in football and also winter and/or spring sports please be aware that you must purchase the football coverage and either the 24 hour or at school coverage to have coverage for the winter and/or spring sports.  Athletes will be cleared to practice as soon as we receive their completed physical, interim questionnaire, proof of insurance and they have purchased an ASB card.
