Most material presented will be by lecture, video and handout. We don’t have a textbook for this class so much of the material will be present by instructor.
Course Objectives
1) To gain exposure to many different medias available and used in art.
2) To gain an understanding of which medias are appropriate for different desired effects.
3) To familiarize the students with medias and help them to recognize what constitutes a finished piece of art.
You will be responsible for completing all projects assigned during the semester.
Grades
You will receive 5 points for being on time and 20 points for using your time productively during class.
Any quiz we have will be worth 100 points.
Projects will be worth 200 points each. 100 points for you idea and 100 points for your execution.
Your letter grade will be determined as a percentage of the total number of points there is possible to earn: 90% or more A 80% or 89% B 70% to 79% C 60% to 69% D
About the instructor
This is my eighth year of teaching. Before teaching I worked in various art departments of businesses, as well as serving as art director for six years for a publishing company. I have worked on both national and internationally circulated magazines and well as having my illustrations published extensively in The Flyfisher magazine. I have owned and operated my own graphics business since 1990. I attended the University of Idaho, Ricks College and graduated from the Colorado Institute of Art in 1990. I am very comfortable with almost any medium and we will work with a variety. We are fortunate that I have a substantial budget provided to me by the State of Idaho due to my vocational certification. This allow us to work with many different types of mediums, it will be provided to you without charge as long as you are respectful and do not purposely waste or vandalize the materials. 01.Demonstrate an understanding of safety and first aid practices
