Body Shaping & Toning                                Dr. Sandy Maras, Teacher

Classroom Discipline Process

Due to the nature of the Body Shaping & Toning class, it is critical that the teacher not be distracted by inappropriate student behavior. There are two basic reasons for this need:

  1. The teacher is actively engaged in physical demonstration of each component of the class along with the students.
  2. The teacher must be able to focus attention on body alignment and positions of each student during the class to encourage the best physical results and prevent injury.

For these reasons a strict discipline plan is needed. The behavioral expectations for class members will be demonstrated the first class and each student is required to abide by the rules or the following consequences will be initiated.

The student will have no warnings. It is expected that you participate in class and stay in your own designated space.

Step 1         First Violation

§         If you leave your space during a workout, you will be in violation of the rules and you will be “Benched”. Benched means that you will sit the rest of the class out on the bleachers in back of the class and you will earn a Zero (0) for the block. Written contact home by the teacher.

§         If while on the Bench, you are disruptive, your parent/guardian will be contacted by phone and in writing and you will serve a 30 minute detention after school.

Step 2         Second Violation

§         If you leave your space during a workout, you will be in violation of the rules and you will be “Benched”. Benched means that you will sit the rest of the class out on the bleachers in back of the class and you will earn a Zero (0) for the block. Both written and phone contact home by the teacher.

§         If while on the Bench, you are disruptive, your parent/guardian will be contacted by phone and in writing and you will serve a 30 minute detention after school.

Step 3         Third Violation

§         The third violation in a semester will result in the same consequences as Step 2 with the addition of a required parent/student conference.

Step 4         Fourth Violation

§         Immediate referral to administration for disciplinary action. Please refer to student handbook for school policies and procedures.
