Time to Teach   The teachers at SMS have high expectations of their students. We believe that every student has the right to a quality education.  As teachers we spend a lot of time and energy to bring learning experiences to students that inspire problem solving, creativity, and collaboration.

We value our time to teach and as a result have a set of classroom expectations.  These expectations for classroom behavior will be taught and students will be held accountable for them.  Any students disrupting the teaching process and not following house rules will refocus their behavior through written reflection. Refocuses will take place outside of the classroom as to not disrupt teaching time.  See refocus policy for details. Students are positively rewarded throughout the school year for improvement, achievement, exceptional behavior, and effort. We like to celebrate with the students for all their personal development.

Tardy Policy   All students need to be in their seat by the bell or they are considered tardy.  Students that are tardy will be refocused.

Late Papers  Students are expected to have all assignments in on the due date.  Late papers will be taken 1 day late with a parent signature for half credit.

Progress Reports  A very important note is that progress reports may be viewed on-line at any time by parents getting a password and web site address from our school office secretaries.  At home, you can look right into my grade book and see it the exact same way I view it by using this proven tool. You can access your progress and grades at any time by using your home internet connection, or the local library internet.

Homework House   Extra help from teachers is available after school until 3:00 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.  A parent conference or telephone call is required to go over expectations.   This will start 2nd quarter.

Passes  You will be allowed one personal pass from each core class per quarter.  Passes to the library, office, or requested by teacher do not count as a personal pass.

Extra Credit  Extra credit may be given by individual teachers if all regular class work has been turned in.
