Class Title: Web2.0 Seminar

Where: SMS, Room 29 or 30

Who: Any teacher

Times and dates: Session 1: Thurs June 12: 8 am to 10 am or (repeat session) 2:30 to 4:30 in the afternoon    Session 1: Monday June 16: 8 am to 10am (repeat session)

Sessions 2: Wednesday, June 18:  8 am to 10am or (repeat session 2) 1 to 3 in the afternoon.

You can mix up a morning session with an afternoon in any way you want, but you must take a 1 then a 2. It will be a total of 4 in class hours. Participants should plan to do both sessions for the 4 hours of in district credit.

Web2.0 tools Seminar

Objective:

Participant in the class will define web2.0, identify and use web2.0 tools. Participants  will then create a lesson plan to use one of the tools with their students.

 

Goal:

A lesson plan that uses a web2.0 tool. 

 

Class Activities:

 Create and use Google accounts (gmail, google docs (presentation, spreadsheet and word processing) and one other Google service of the participants’ choice. Participants will create and use a delicious account.  Participants will set up an rss feed for information of their choice.  Participants will also read on line articles about web2.0 and education, security, web2.0collaboration and web2.0 trends. From those readings and personal experiences, participants will be expected to participate in class discussions.

 

Products and evaluation:

Participants will prepare a short presentation about a web2.0 tool of their choice. Participants will create a lesson plan that uses one of the web2.0 features or tools.

 

Timeframe:

Participants will attend a two hour session, research (using the internet  out of class, and then return to class to make a short presentation. The lesson plan can be turned in then, or any time before July 4th.

 

Credit:

This class will count 4 hours towards in district certification.
