bullet Writing an Informative Report
bulletHere is a sample essay and some more information on writing an informative report.

Assignment:

Step One: Gather facts and information from the sites above and from the pages on the Yukon Territory and the Iditarod. Copy and paste notes to an MSWord document called "Alaska/Yukon/Iditarod Informative Report Notes."  Please include bibliography information on your notes page for each site from which you obtain information: author, title of web page, publisher/business, URL (web address), copyright or date last updated, and your date of access (the date you found the information).  Save this in your network folder.

Step Two: Make an informal outline of your report.  Copy and paste the outline form below to a blank Word document, then fill it in.  Save it in your network folder under "Alaska/Yukon/Iditarod Outline."

Concluding Paragraph:

(You may add more Reason/Detail/Fact paragraphs, and more Explaining sentences if you need to.)  Add them into your outline as necessary. When you are finished, or when the teacher requests, you will print your outline.

Step Three: Then on another blank document, turn your outline and your notes into a an informative report from 300 to 500 words, about Alaska, the Yukon, the Iditarod and their histories.  There is no "copy and paste" allowed here.  Use your own words!  Save this document into your network folder as "Alaska/Yukon/Iditarod Report."  Print a rough draft and then edit/revise by hand.  Make changes on your document, and print a final draft.  Please include at least one photo in your final document.

As a last step, please copy and paste your final report with the pictures to your Personal Magazine (your electronic portfolio).
