What is AP?

Advanced placement (AP) allows students to take college-level courses while in high school.  Taking AP courses gives students the opportunity to earn credit or advanced placement at most of the colleges and universities in the United States.

Sandpoint High School currently offers 11 AP courses, 2 of which are offered every other year.

Advanced Placement courses are taught at an accelerated pace and at an advanced level of instruction.  The text, writing and format of the courses are all at a higher level and require an increased time commitment to homework and study.

Taking the AP exam may award college credit.  Credit is determined by scoring 3 or higher on a scale of 5 on an Advanced Placement exam.  The College Board and most universities will not accept scores for credit purposes below a 3.  All Students enrolled in an AP course are encouraged to take the appropriate AP exam in the spring.

The cost of this year's AP exam is $87.  A $15 deposit must be paid prior to March 31st.                                                              All deposits and fees are payable to the Sandpoint High School bookkeeper.

Registration forms and income determination forms for test fee waivers are due March 31st.

For questions or comments about the AP Program at Sandpoint High School please contact the AP Coordinator,                            Linda Sprinkle @ 208-263-3034 ext. 4023.
